I followed Bryan Howe here because he's absolutely amazing. He works miracles with my hair. Also the head rubs are drool-inducing. Go to see Bryan! He's a darling and a wizard. The salon is beautiful, clean, welcoming, and well-appointed. Surprisingly street parking isn't too bad. Also their prices are competitive for outstanding style and service.

I haven’t let anyone give me more than a teeny tiny trim in over a decade. I have too much PTSD from too many awkward haircuts. But lately I just knew if I wanted to really love my hair again, I had to surrender to a real haircut.

Then it occurred to me. Its time to go to Claudio Lazo.

I have a girlfriend who has been going to him for over fifteen years and her hair is always, ALWAYS on point. And he’s a hair legend. I had wanted to go see him myself but I was a single mom raising two girls on my own and an expensive haircut wasn’t in my budget. But kids are grown now, and My spidey senses told me if anyone knew how to wake my hair back up, it was Claudio.

His new(ish) space Hairem is awesome, homey but not in the way you might think. It’s comfortable and funky and hip. It feels personal, which most salon studios don’t get right.

And… my Spidey senses were right. I am so happy with my hair. He heard (not just listened but actually heard) what I wanted and told me what was realistic and asked if I was attached to my length. Like a lot of women I know, that answer is yes. But this time I said no, take off what needs to come off. This is NOT how I am about my hair- I’m usually very protective of the length (and no one touches my bangs ever) and not so casual as this. But I just relaxed and trusted Claudio.

Now- most people who know me wouldn’t even realize I got a haircut. It wasn’t super drastic or anything. He cut layers and made it a bit shag like and harmonized my ever present bangs with the rest of my hair. He released my hair from being weighed down in all the wrong places so my natural waves know what to do with themselves.

I am now one of those women that wakes up in the morning, and just lets my hair do its thing. No ponytails, no product, maybe a few sprays of water and mussing it up to reactivate some wave and I’m good. My hair feels sexy and fresh and happy!

Don’t even think twice. Go to Claudio! You can thank me later.

The hair salon is so beautiful and Claudio is the most amazing hairdresser I've ever had. He has magic hands. I have long hair and I'm always worried about getting a cut. Somehow he manages to make my hair appear longer after the cut! He is awesome! Highly recommend!

Jaclyn is a fantastic colorist. I love the way my hair color looks and I get compliments on it frequently -- even from other hairdressers that I know. The vibe at the salon is relaxing and they play really good music.

I can't thank Claudio enough. This hair cut ‍ is beautiful and life changing. It is part of my life's makeover -- when you feel good outside you feel good inside and vice versa! I appreciate all of his artistic and Jedi sensibilities along this journey of self-care and self-love -- through hair! This feeling of good pours into all aspects of life...he took me along without judgement but with patience and great care.

In other news, Claudio also understands hair and how it can get damaged over time, and what you can do to help it. Not everyone is born with thick strong hair.

-There's no ego! He listens, and wants you to feel good about the process. But he will also guide you in the right direction. You may have all these ideas, but only he can get you grounded in them.
-Ultimately he is an artist - and there's a sense of creative direction, but you don't know until you get in it, to know the end result. That is the beauty and art of getting a hair cut. No hair cut is the same. Claudio Lazo gets this and that's what makes him a genius.
